ABOUT SUSAN LYNN'S
In many ways I always knew I'd own a business. I come from a family of entrepreneurs, and it was just something I thought would be fun. In college, I chose accounting as a major, figuring it would most beneficial to have a business background (with preferably some tax experience) if I was to own one someday. I never initially planned on doing retail, I thought about the service industry, food industry, or even something I could do from home. But after getting my degree, and subsequently my CPA license, went to work in public accounting for 5 1/2 years.
I realized I was at somewhat of a crossroads; I was anxious for something to change, and decided it was "now or never" to do something on my own. Before I had a family, after "enough" experience (its never "enough" i've learned), and while I was still young and naive! At age 27, I researched many ideas and decided there was such great potential in west St. Louis County, I thought I might always regret not getting in "on the ground floor" of such a great location. So I left the accounting world and opened up shop in Chesterfield. As they say, the rest is history...
SUSAN'S PHILOSOPHY ON BUYING
I love to answer this question because there is really no set answer! Truly, I make purchases with my "gut" instinct and that's about as definitive as I can be. Of course I track trends, keep an eye on celebrities, and am always looking for what's next. As soon as something becomes popular, I've always found that I'm ready to move on; I've always striven to look unique, have that certain edge, and stand out from the "mall" crowd. So doing what I do has been a natural extention of that personality.
